Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

went to court and the judge ordered what was expected and when the papers came from my ex's lawyer he added stipulations that were ordered or discussed in court. I sent it back asking that he stipulate what was actually discussed and he didn't now a year later I am being pulled into court for lawyer fees when the lawyer didn't submit new paper work. we went to court in sept of 07 and I received the first paper work the 1st week of dec submitted back the same day via fax what was wrong and the heard nothing back, now over a year later I am being sued to pay his lawyer fees is this legal. I live in va
