Am I under any legal obligation to return an engagement ring when the man who asked me to marry him walked out on me?

Virginia apparently follows the conditional gift rule, i.e., the ring is given as a

gift conditioned on marriage, but if the marriage for whatever reason fails to

materialize, then the ring must be returned to the giver irrespective of who was

allegedly at fault.
