Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia
I live with my mother and I am her care giver. I pay for all of her meical expenses, co-pays, taking her to al of her docrots apportments, I buy all of her clothes, etc. However my sister says she has power of attorney for my mother. My mother says she didn't give my sister her power of attorney. My grand mother who is now deceased was in charge of my mother's care, but since my grandmother's death my sister has taken over my mother financial affairs. Now she says she is my mother's gaurdian but she don't come around to see about her don't know anything about her care she only writes check for $50.00 to $200.00 dollars every five to six months which is not enough to take careof my mother's needs. I have tried to get the family together to discuss our mother's affairs but my sister won't meet with us. I have sisters that live out of state that have come to meet with our sister but she refuses to do talk to us. I work nights and ther is no one that would even come to care for our mother while I am at work. I have four sisters that live in state with me that could help with our mother's care but they just don't. I have a brother that also lives with my mother and me and he just causes trouble disrespecting my mother and me. I have called the police on him on several occasion but nothis is ever done. I need to know what steps I need to take to get my sister to be held accountable for my mother's affairs or what steps I can take to get my mothers affairs turned over to me since I am the care give and the only one that is taking care of her. I am out of options and don't know which way to turn and I need help. I have trued to get a lawyer but I really can't afford one. Please help stirr me in the right direction as to what I should do.
