Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

I live in the state of VA with my 2 Children, my ex lives in NC. He is behind on child supprt and is now trying to get disability. We have joint custody myself having full physical. If the children get benefits will they go to him or to me?

Disability benefits will go to the father(if he's found eligible) but they may be subject to attachment for any child support arrearages owed.

claim, they should go directly to their caretaker (you).
