Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia
I have lived in Charles City for 3 1/2 yrs and my ex lives in Williamsburg. Our div and custody issues were done in the Williamsburg/James City County Court. My ex has the primary ins on our son and I have the secondary. My ex refuses to give me a an insurance card for my son. The judge says this is "housekeeping" and will not force him to give it to me. Also my son is 10 and would like to ask to live with me. The WJCC courts won't hear him until he is 13. Can I change the venue to Charles City courts?

The attorney who represented you in your divorce should be able to file a motion in the WJCC Circuit Court transferring the matters involving
custody, support, and visitation issues referenced in the divorce to the jurisdiction of the J&DR;Court of Charles City which would permit you to pursue enforcement issues there in that court and without the aid or involvement of counsel.
