Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

If you lost custody of a minor child to the other parent, because of having marijuana in your system, is it a good chance you could get joint custody yrs later? And do you need a lawyer to do it or could it be done easily on your own?

Would seem to depend upon what the offending parent's conduct

has been since the last incident. If without reproach and the indicies

of generally responsible parenting seem to be evident now in his or her conduct, then the restoration of joint legal custody might be possible with the aid of an attorney who handles Virginia family law matters.

I do not, however, see this as a matter that could "be done easily on

your own".
