Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

What to do about lost IDs

Recently, my boyfriend and I moved from Virginia to Colorado. During the move, I lost my wallet. Inside was my Virginia ID and my social security card. My mother has my birth certificate and I've asked her to send it, but she has been unable to find it. I am worried that even if I get my birth certificate, I will still be unable to get a Colorado ID because they require a photo ID, which I don't have. I've been without an ID now for 6 months, and it has become a big problem. What can I do to get my birth certificate, a new ID, and a new social security card?

Re: What to do about lost IDs

Start first by acquiring a new copy of your birth certificate from the vital records agency

of the state where you were born. (You should be able to go online and access the procedures for

obtaining the copy). Once you have this copy, you should be able to go to your local SS office

and make application for a replacement SS card.

When you have these two documents in hand, you should have no problem in obtaining whatever

other Colorodo ID that you wish.
