Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

Married in the Bahamas

My husband and I are residents of Virginia but we were married in the Bahamas. We are seeking a divorce and wondered if we can get a divorce there and if it would be simpler. There is one chid from this marriage.

You can certainly get divorced in the Bahamas; whether it would be simpler than getting divorced

in Virginia, I have no idea, since I know nothing about Bahamian matrimonial law.

In Virginia, unless you are proceeding on so-called fault grounds(adultery, abandonment, etc.),where there are children born or adopted of the marriage, you must be separated from your spouse continuously, for one year, without interruption, before you may obtain a no-fault decree.
