My future husband is in the marines and my father told me he will put charges against him not only in regualar court but also in the military. can he do that? i mean we met when i was 16 and had a relationship since i was 17 so i just need to know if my fiance is safe from my father like if my father can hurt him in any way?!

No they cannot stop you on the basis of your age; you are at the age of majority and can make the decision to marry without their approval.

No if youre 18 there's nothing he can do to stop the marriage or prevail on any criminal or military charges. But check it out. He's your father. This is his job to discourage you. Did you know that 65% of people married under age 25 are divorced in three years and 85% within seven years? I am your father's age and a divorce lawyer. Of course love is too strong to listen to reason. But another thing - when men have loved you and moved on - your father will still be there. Your future husband doesn't have the relationship with that man invested that you do so before you sell your flesh and blood down the river for the first pretty boy who loves you back - take a minute and think about why he is worried and do some things to ease his concerns and try not to destroy this solid dependable relationship. The person who loves you ought to feel that way too.

Good luck.
