Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

I was married over 20 years ago but left him after about 2 years. We never spoke or saw each other. I am ready to file for divorce but we live in different states. I have managed to track him down and he is willing to a just "sign on the dotted line" divorce, no contest, nothing to split or worry about. No children, no property, just sign on the dotted line. How do I get a divorce if we live in different states?

You have to prepare and file the proper paperwork in the correct court of the

state where you currently reside and arrange for your husband to be

served with copies of this paperwork by a sheriff's deputy (or other process

server) in the state where your husband resides.

Assuming you currently live in Virginia, you could go to the clerk's office

of the circuit court in the city or county where you live and see if you can pick up a divorce packet of forms which explains what you need to do to complete this process as described above.
