Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia
I have been married for 25 years - went back to work full time about 6-7 years ago and we have two children - one in third year college and my youngest is 15, a freshman in high school.
I need to know what my options are or what I can ask for. I'm not sure what it is you need from me at this point. So please contact me as soon as you can for more information.
At this time, I do not believe that my husband has contacted a lawyer. I do not want a divorce, I have suggested for a couple of years that we see a counselor. He is completely against it.
I hope to hear from someone soon.
Thank you,

Once you have figured out(more or less) what your objectives are in this situation, you may then wish to arrange for a consultation with a local attorney who handles domestic relations matters in the Commonwealth and who should be able to advise you, accordingly.
You have not really stated your question clearly. You say you do not want a divorce. But, some of the issues addressed at divorce may be equitable distribution, custody, and support. There are different types of divorces. No fault and fault. If you dod not want a divorce, you may simply want to separate and draw up an agreement. Take time to write your objectives and goals. List all plus and minus. Look at all assets and debts. What property do you own. Whose name is it under. What are your salaries. There is much to investigate and ponder.
