Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

Maternal Grandparent Custody Rights.

I'm am the Maternal Grandparent of our grandson. I've had full custody of him since he was 2 days old. His natural father is back in the picture and wants fuul custody. My daughter is missing, and we are going to court soon. Do I have any rights? I have never recieved a cent of child support, even now, and thats ok. Hes only known us as his "Parents", even though we've taught him to call us grandma and grandpa. Thank you

Re: Maternal Grandparent Custody Rights.

You have the right to go to court and try to convince a judge why your son-in-law should not have custody. He will be the preferred custodian, but if you can convince a judge that he is unfit to be the custodial parent, you may prevail.
