Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

Medical Bills

I have been divorced for 6 years now.My ex-wife has custody of our two daughters. I am responsible for the Insurance and she the co-pays.I am finding out that I have collections on outstanding medical bills when I try to get credit or finance. I notified the hospital were these services are being rendered three different times.I am being told they do not get involved in disputes of this kind. The bills are in my name and being sent to my ex's address.Thank you,--name removed--

Re: Medical Bills

Yes, that's right, medical providers don't normally get involved with parsing out which parent is responsible for co-paying a medical bill and which the principal amount.

However, if your ex-wife is not meeting her obligations under the agreement that was presumably incorporated into your divorce decree, you can reopen the divorce and have her brought back into court to explain why and possibly sanctioned.
