Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

mental health care minor child

My 14 year old daughter is being treated by a psychologist for depression and has asked me to participate in her therapy. The psychologist says that my ex-wife (the custodial parent) must consent to this, and we are estranged, and she would not give her consent for this. Is my ex-wife's consent actually neccessary for me to participate in her care? What information about my daughter is the pshychologist obliged to share with me? I have full residual parental rights, and we are in Virginia.

Re: mental health care minor child

Unless you share in legal custody of this child, the mother's consent can be required in order for you to participate in the child's therapy. (And no one can require that she give such consent.)
