Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

Modifying child support payments

I need help in trying to reduce my child support payments. I case is held in the Chesapeake, Virginia circuit court. The file clerk told me that I need to do my own research and submit my forms to the court. How do I go about getting free form on modifying my child support payments? Or how do I write up my own form to modify my child support payments? Thank you

Re: Modifying child support payments

You should request through a motion filed with the circuit court that the matters of custody, visitation, and support be transferred to the jurisdiction of the juvenile & domestic relations district court, whereupon you may file a request using this court's motion form to have your support payments reduced.

Your local legal aid society may be able to assist you with the format for the motion to be filed in the circuit court transferring the above-mentioned matters to the lower court.
