Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

My mother has Alzheimer's. She has moved from her home but has not sold it yet. My sister and I take care of her each having her every other week. Is it legal for my mother to pay each of us 700.00 per month to care for her?

Since she is not able to make that decision, I would be very careful about paying yourself and your sister to provide her care, even if you have power of attorney to make financial decisions on her behalf.
