Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

Mother can't keep Daughter in School

My daughters mother for the past two years has been unable to keep our daughter in school consistently. Last year my daughter was in Kindergarten in the State of MD and she had her stop after Christmas 2004 because she couldn't afford it, then she said that she was home schooling her. Now she is in first grade and again her mother has told me that now she doesn't have a car and my daughter isn't in school again she is now in Virginia. What can I do or need to do to make sure my daughter has consistency? If she lived with me and my family she would be in school everyday and have stability. Also my daughter is talking about a new man in her mothers life and she has yet to get divorced from her husband. Is there anything I can do?

Sounds like you could file a petition for custody modification at minimum. In addition, you could call social services to see if they could help and/or call the school to see if there is anything they can do.
