Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

My mother in law was abandoned by my father in law recently, she has no income and is unable to work. She is currently being evicted from her residence and the power has been cut off. When he left the residence he left behind 19 rifles that were his. She is wanting me to sell these rifles to bring in an income for her to be able to hav money for food and power. Is it legal for me to do that without his knowledge? She is in the process of attempting to divorce, please help....
