Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

My mother passed away and i had to make her funeral arrangment's, what i need to know is her spouse responible for her funeral bill. She has no cash, no estate .

Certainly, if this spouse promised the funeral home that he would take care of

or in effect guaranteed payment of these expenses.

Otherwise, not likely (in my opinion).
