Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

I moved away from VA 6 months ago and the judge granted full custody to my ex husband and i have visitation. Now i'm moving back to VA and would like to regain join custody back. How much chance do i get? Can i win the case without hiring a lawyer?

You may petition to modify custody. You should move close to where the child lives (perhaps in same school district). I do not know the reason custody was granted to the dad so I cannot tell you your chances of winning the case. You ought to have an attorney. You probably do not know the procedures for discovery if utilized nor the rules of evidence. You can request attorney fees be awarded. Good luck. Sheryl Shane, Attorney at Law.
