Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia
Moveing within the state lines
I have recently separated from my husband and wish to move to another area of the state. We do not have a separation agreement and he has told me I will not take his child to the area that I want to move to. What do I need to do to be able to go? This is the perfect oppurtunity for me to make a better life for me and my children.

The first thing you need to do is file a petition for custody in the Juvenile and Domestic relations court, either where you live now or after you move, in the county where you will then be living.
He can fight it, but you have to show the court that you are a fit and proper custodian and that it is in the child's best interest to be with you.
