Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

Moving to Vegas.

I am making a move from VA to Nevada. I know that I give 30 days notice to the courts and my child's dad(which lives in VA) but I get to know what my responsibilities are to uphold visitation. As it stands now, dad gets her every other weekend from thurs. to sun. My daughter turned 4 0n July 18. Next yr. school will start for her and visitation gets to be fine tuned anyhow. I have heard of people moving 1 or 2 states away that meet in the middle but since it is across the US that's not feasible. So, what steps do I get to take to make sure I am ''following the rules?'' Thank you for your time and assistance.

Re: Moving to Vegas.

Follow the terms of the court order as reasonably as you can as they currently stand until they're fine tuned or adjusted for your new situation. Does that mean that you need to journey half way across the country every other Thursday with the child to meet dad in St. Louis in order to turn the child over to his care and custody and then return on Sunday to retrieve the child? No, I would think not, and other reasonable alternatives

that are worked out between you and your husband would likely be given deference by the court having jurisdiction over the custody matter even though these alternatives might involve some deviations from the court's original visitation order.
