out-of-state court summon

I recieved a court summons from the state of Virginia in reference to renew a court garnishment of wages. I am a retired military veteran and according to the Miliatry Finance office in Cleveland, Ohio the original court has been fullfilled. The finance office have stop the garnishment of my check, but the ex-spouse file a petition to have the court order re-enstated claiming that I still owe her money. I live in Georgia and is not financial able to make that trip to Virginia for this court preceedings what are my alternative, if any, please help.

You can try writing the Virginia court responsible for issuing the garnishment, explaining the situation from your perspective.

If that doesn't produce any satisfactory results, you may need to retain a Virginia lawyer to help you resolve the matter.
