Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

parent who allows and provides alcohol to our children

I recently took my ex to court for custody for allowing our two children to drink, having many parties at there home and my ex was also was purchasing alcohol for them. My ex admitted it to the court. Judge decided that it was in the childs best interest that he stay with my ex. Of course what child would not want to stay being allowed to do those things. My problem is Judge did not take any action what so ever against my ex in regards to the alcohol nor not even a slap on the hand and the fact it was admitted by ex and children being at the parties testified as well. Can a judge actually walk away with letting that situation go and then turn around leave the child in that enviroment knowing that there is safety issues and the law has been broken?

Re: parent who allows and provides alcohol to our children

If you disagreed with this judge's decision(presumably in J&DRDC), you could've appealed it to the circuit court within 10 days and asked for a trial of the matter de novo.
