Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia
Parental Rights and Custody
Once paternity has been established what are the rights of the biological father if there has been no effort made to contact the birth mother or establish a relationship with the child after the child has reached two years of age? What are the rights of the mother concerning child support in this situation? Is there a specific law or statute which addresses this issue?

Re: Parental Rights and Custody
Under Virginia law, he mother in the situation you've described has the right to seek child support from the man who has been adjudicated the father of the child.
The father would, among other things, have the
right to seek reasonable visitation with his child, irrespective of the child's age.
