Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia
Parental Rights, Paternity
My son's ex-fiance (they broke up after she slept with someone else) is pregnant. She told the other man (whom she believes is the father) but not my son until her parents forced her to. The other man and her her friends were told that it is his child. The due date of course puts the conception date near when they were last together. She says they have to wait until June (due date) to find out if it is his baby. She also offered to get an abortion if my son comes back to her which totally stunned us. What if anything can and should be done in the meantime? Are there legal steos that we need to have in place? This is going to be a long 7 months. He does not want to go back to her because of the trust issue and infidelity. Her parents are really pushing for our son to go back since they know he is the employed, responsible kind of person he is. We are trying to tell ourselves that this is not his baby until the DNA proves it. Tough to do.

Re: Parental Rights, Paternity
I would suggest that you cease talking to yourselves and put your thoughts more to matters over which you may have some control, and await in due time the results of a valid paternity test.
