at what age can you leave a child home alone in the state of virginia?

Virginia state law establishes no set age at which a child may or may not be left alone. To leave a child alone or without adequate supervision for his or her level of maturity does constitute child neglect. Some local agencies have guidelines; some do not, and address the question on a case by case basis.

Your best bet is to call your local department of social services and ask to speak to child protective services. They can tell you what their analysis of the situation is.
