third party custody

there is a young woman who has abandoned her 8wk old baby to the grandmother. grandmother not physically and financially able to care for infant, but wants to be a grandmother to the child. The grandmother wants some one else to give the child a loving home and she be able to be grandma. How does this work legally without getting social services involved?

You can name any adult you want to have custody in a custody agreement. Both the mom and dad should sign saying they agree. The paper should also have visitation rights for the grandmother. I can prepare this for you. Courts usually follow the agreement unless it is not in the child's best interest.
