Power Of Attorney

A U S born Minor Child under 16 temporarily living in the United states with her Grand parents : Her birth parents presently living out of USA. Currently child need to renew her passport. For that csae if her both parents give wrriten power of Attorney to someone from outside USA to give consent for renewal her passport.Is that works?

The child's parents should be able to obtain the necessary parental consent forms from the State Department's passport section or from a U.S. consulate in the country where they currently reside and execute them accordingly, and then send the properly completed and signed consent forms on to the grandparent caretakers of the child who then should be able to apply at almost any local post office for the renewal of the child's passport.

No power of attorney should be necessary in order to complete this particular task.
