Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia
pregnant teenage daughter
My friend is the non-custodial father of 8 and 14 year old daughters. He pays child support and has weekend visitation, though the 14 yr. old has not come to visit in 3 months. The 14 year old has become pregnant by her 16 year old boyfriend. My question is: What impact, if any, will this pregnancy have on his child support obligation? The mother of the girls is already demanding more money from him to support his pregnant daughter. Please tell me this is not his responsibility. What if the 14 yr. old leaves the custodial mother's house to live with her boyfriend? Will my friend still be responsible for child support to the mother even if his daughter no longer lives there? Thank you.

Re: pregnant teenage daughter
All of these issues are matters for the court having jurisdiction over the child support issue to determine, after having had all of the relevant facts placed before it for proper consideration. If the court determines that in fact there has been no material change in the circumstances of your friend's child support case since the last order was entered that would warrant a change, then it will remain the same and unchanged.(The father of the pregnant 14 year old cannot be required to support this child whenever it is born.)
