Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

Hello,

I'm in the process of divorcing and am about to sign our separation agreement. I agree with all of the stipulations. I have a simple question about terminology. Is there any implication, benefit, or disadvantage in being designated either "party of the first part" or "party of the second part"? I'd been told that these are simply designations without implications. I'd like to be sure. Thank you very much.

Yes, you've been told right, i.e, party of the first part and party of the

second party are merely somewhat quaint designations for parties to

a contract and without legal significance going beyond that.
