Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

property settlement

My wife and I can file divorce now based on a one year seperation. However she is giving me a hard time ont the property settletment. Prince william court told me how to file for divorce without a atterny but, I need to know how to get the info on how I can get her 401K statement and retirement info from her job and file for the property settlement. I'm willing to give her the info. I want to get this filed asap. I can not afford an atterny at this time or I would hire one. How do I go about subening her job and fileing in court for what is rightfully mine. She wanted the divorce not me. Custody is settled and the house is being sold with several contracts on it at this time.

Thank you

Re: property settlement

You should be able to get the info via discovery or subpoena, after you file the complaint for divorce. This would be much easier with an attorney helping you. You might also ask the court to order mediation, which may yield a quicker and cheaper resolution for you. Good luck.
