purchasing property

by me and wife being seperated, is it a good idea for me to go out and purchase land,house,etc.. or have my name added as a co-buyer for the same items.

If you're now separated and you're reasonably certain that you and your wife will not reconcile, it would likely be prudent for you to conclude a PSA (Property Settlement Agreement) with your wife before purchasing any new real estate to ensure that it will be considered only yours and yours alone in the event that you finally do divorce your wife.

I would advise that you postpone any acquisition until you have an executed property settlement agreement (psa).
