Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia
How do I receive visitation of my children?
Our divorce was granted 5-2001. The final decree granted child custody and support to my husband, which I pay support, and ''reasonable visitation'' to me. However, my husband has let me see my children once in the past year. What can I do? I can't afford to hire an attorney in another state. He lives in Virginia Beach, VA and I live in Memphis, TN. Please help, I miss my children dearly!!!

Re: How do I receive visitation of my children?
I assume that your divorice was granted in Virginia. In Virginia, you have a presumed right of visitation. Barring some sort of gross unfitness on your part the court will enforce that right. One period of visitation during the year does not seem resonable. If you can't get a more satisfactory visitation arrangement with your former husband then you need to go back to court for a modification of the decree as it pertains to visitation. You should have a lawyer for this. You can't risk not having a lawyer. It is your children we are talking about after all.
If you can't work things out with your former husband, maybe you should hire a lawyer, just to write your former husband's and see if that works things out. If not you need to go to court.
