Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

I recently caught my fiance cheating and ended our engagement. According to Virginia Law, do I have to give the ring back? Also, is there a statute of limitations for how long he has to ask for it?

No, apparently under current Virginia law based upon Virginia Civil Code

statute 8.01-220, you do not have to return this engagement ring to

your (presumably former) fiance. Virginia is among the minority of states

which consider such a ring as an UNCONDITIONAL GIFT which by definition

cannot be (successfully) demanded back by the giver.
