Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

relocation/change in custody

I have joint physical custody living in VA. The father moved out of state in Jan 07. I am planning to move to the west coast next month. I told the father of my move and he didn't have any arguments. Do I have to file a petition to move out of state or is the fathers verbal ok enough?

Re: relocation/change in custody

If a Virginia court awarded you joint physical custody with the father, you must comply with the terms of that order regarding the notice required for

any such moves, which usually is 30 days advance notice to both the court and the other parent.
