Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia
Request Production of Documents
I received a request for production of documents from my exs lawyer. We are going through a divorce and I happily provided whatever documents etc that I had in my possession. I also stated that some documents were not available and I granted the attorney permission in obtaining them. I also sent the attorney a request for production of documents that may be used as evidence. I did not ask for anything out of the ordinary and mailed a certificate of service as well and sent a copy to the court house. ( I am a pro se party) I have not received any documents or response stating such documents were not in their possession. I have received no type of response at all. It has been well over 30 days (at least 40-45) should I send a second request or file a motion to compel with the court since they are not cooperating?

Re: Request Production of Documents
Call first and if still no response, then file the motion to compel.
