Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

Am I required to answer all Interrogatories and Requests?

My wife has just received Interrogatories and Requests for Production of Documents from her ex-husband's attorney. She has a court date set by Department of Child Support Enforcement for a MTA child support.

The Interrogatories include questions about homeschooling the children (how many hours each day, daily schedule, why they are not enrolled in a public school, etc.). As these questions in no way pertain to anything on the docket, am I required to answer them? As an aside, he has made no effort to contact the children (ages 12 and 14) in 4 months and has not seen them in many more. Thank you.

Re: Am I required to answer all Interrogatories and Requests?

You wife must answer the interrogatories. If you she fails to do so without credible explanation, her case will likely be adversely affected whenever it comes up fpr a hearing.

If she needs assistance with answering the interrogatories, she should contact DCSE and the attorney who is assigned to represent her at the hearing.
