Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

What are my best resources as a father for getting custody of my baby? His mother and I have separated and he primarily resides with me. I am not sure if the baby's mother has a stable place to live and has been hanging around people who have been known to use illicit drugs. I currently own my own home and the child has always lived in this home. Could any of these things be overly important factors in determining custody, and also what kind of proof do I need?

I would suggest that you arrange for a consultation with a local attorney in your area who handles domestic relations matters in the Commonwealth and who should be able to give you a proper assessment of your chances of gaining custody of your child once the lawyer has had an opportunity to discuss with you and evaluate the important facets of the case.
