Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

Retrieval of Property from Spouse

My husband and I are separated and I have tried to retrieve a car (Jaguar), which is in my name from him and refuses to return it. He has also refused to make the payments on the vehicle. I've been paying the carnote to preserve my credit, but I am unable to pay my note and his. I would like to retreive the car, so that I may sell it, Unfortunately, I have no information about where he lives or works, and I am now at the point of reporting the vehicle stolen...Can I do this and what are my rights. (P.S. He calls me from pay phones, so I can't call him back)

Please Help.

Re: Retrieval of Property from Spouse

You may wish to consider hiring a PI(private investigator)for a flat fee amount(say $500 or so)to track this rapscallion down.

Re: Retrieval of Property from Spouse

If the vehicle is titled in our name than you can and should report it as stolen. He'll get picked up in the car. If you ever locate it take the law with you to retrieve it.

Good luck
