Rights to know birthparent

If the state courts took me from my mother, As a middle aged adult.How would I go about finding out why I was taken,also finding out about my birth mother.Do I have rights!Wasn't my rights to know my mother taken away from me. What steps should I take to find out this information. Please Help.

I was adopted in the 1950's so I certainly understand your problem. I tried to get my adoption record opened several years ago, but the Judge denied my motion.

Were you legally adopted? You do not give me enough information to answer your question.

Texas law is not as liberal as many other states.

It is difficult to get adoption records open.
