My Rights re: denial of access to my child

My ex girlfriend (currently incarcerrated) just recently wrote to me and stated that she did in fact give birth to a baby girl earlier this year. She had initially told everyone that the pregnancy was as she caled it a ''phantom pregnancy''. The child is being hidden from me while she finishes out her prison sentence. How do I legally go about finding my daughter.

Start with her relatives and go from there. (I would note, however, that given where she currently resides, her claim of new motherhodd might have to necessarily be taken with more than a few of the proverbial "grains of salt".)
