Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

what are the rights of a 17 year old in VA

My question(s) are I have a friend who just turned 17. Her mom is between homes and the 17 year old lives with me and my family. The mother is trying to move the 17 year old and her 2 other children into a home that is not fit for my animals to live in. Her stay there is only supposed to be temperory but could last for a couple of years. Does the 17 year old have to go. She has been living with me for almost a year, and until recently so was her mom and siblings. Help the situation is tearing us all apart what can we do?

Re: what are the rights of a 17 year old in VA

So, who are you and what relationship have you to this 17 year old and her family?

If none other than friend, you would be well advised not to attempt to interfere with the exercise of the mother's natural custodial rights

over her minor child. (Yeah, that means the child has to go.)
