Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia
separation agreements
How binding are separation agreements? If the alimony and child support are bankrupting one of the parties, can he or she petition the court to have this agreement reviewed by a court prior to or during the final divorce decree?

Re: separation agreements
Yes, child support may always be reviewed during the minority of the subject child(ren). As to the alimony, the parties should attempt to renegotiate
(perhaps with the assistance of a mediator)this particular issue before bringing it before the court to decide.
