If my wife and I write our own separation agreement and have it notorized, is it legal and binding?

Re: Separation

Sure, it might be "legal and binding" but since there is, technically, so such legal status in Virginia known as "legal separation", chances are that any document that you would prepare would not cover all of the points which a properly prepared standard Property Settlement Agreement(PSA) would be expected to contain and therefore would likely be defective in some measure.
