Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

if someone has a seperation agreement and it references a number for child support to be paid, if a lesser amount of child support is accepted by the custodial parent and she wrote a receipt stating the amount of support received and the amount of that payment being applied to arrearage....... does that in any way change the terms of the child support?
