Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

Signing over the fathers rights to the mother

I have a newborn child and the father and I are trying to find out the best way for me to get the rights to the child, he has agreed that he will sign over his rights of the child and I will not go after him for child support or anything else concerning this baby. How would we go about doing such a thing and is it actually a possible solution.

Re: Signing over the fathers rights to the mother

Unless the father's parental rights are formally

terminated in an order from the appropriate court, "signing over his rights" in a piece of paper, from a legal perspective has little significance.

You, as the biological mother of the child, already have all the rights that a natural mother can have with respect to her child.
