Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia
My sister -in-law just sent divorce papers to my brother to sign. He signed them and while they were in the mail he was in a car accident and passed away. Would she still be considered "his wife" and be awarded all his assets since they were divorcing ?

Yes, indeed, as far as continuing to have the legal status as your brother's wife. As to whether she would be entitled to inherit all of his assets, that could depend upon whether your brother had a will and who he named as beneficiaries and also whether, perhaps, he had surviving offspring from a previous marriage in the event that he had no will(died intestate).
