Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

Son incarcerated, need divorce and criminal attorney

My son is currently in jail waiting to be assigned his permanent prison for his term of approx 8 yrs left to serve. His wife is filing for divorce and we(his family) are looking for a divorce attorney to handle the situation. We also would like a criminal attorney to look at what his original attorney did in handling his case which we think was very poorly done. He took a plea on his charges and then another plea for the sentence. We feel his attorney lacked the enthusiasm and ability to perform as he tried to leave us to believe he would get all charges dropped, when in fact he urged our son to take the plea. He also did not keep us informed as our son directed him to do and/or give us any info on the pending pleas to help our son make a decision. Any help you can give us would be greatly appreciated. We all live some distance away from Virginia.
