Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

Im a soon-to-be first time mom and my ex fiance is trying to be ridiculous about custody and child support. Basically Im 18 and I moved across the country from virginia to hawaii to live with him on the schofield army base. During the 3 months I lived with him I became pregnant and he also physically abused me which is why I now live in virginia again. Being 18 and living at home I GRACIOUSLY asked only that he pay half my OBGYN bills and that he help with some child support, now hes demanding that he pay nothing and I send my child across the country for half the year every single year to be with him. Hes leaving the army in danger of losing the two children he has right now and he is $18,000 in debt. I have never been in a custody battle before and I honestly have no clue what to do, but I absolutely REFUSE to send my child across the country for 6 months every year.

With regard to this issue of child support, you should arrange to contact your local district offiice for th payment of child support(Division of Child Support Enforcement)which will pursue the matter interstate independent of any consideraations regarding custody and/or visitation.

How long have you lived in Virginia. Is the baby going to be born in Virginia. What will the baby's ties be to Virginia. What will serve the child's best interests. Has a paternity test been requested. CSEA should be able to help with support issues.
